About Ofita / History
More than three decades of continuous improvement

OFITA was set up in 1969, marking the beginning of a new concept of space and furnishings in the office environment. A new world created to satisfy the changing needs of companies, to provide them with a host of benefits and, especially, a new world that improves quality of life in the workplace.

Because OFITA is Quality of Life in the Workplace. Everything revolves around this concept. More than three decades of experience have made OFITA one of the leading companies on the Spanish market. But in order to achieve this, OFITA has undergone a number of major transformations, both in technological innovation and in the way that this company has incorporated new concepts into its management systems, as well as adapting its corporate strategy to market demands.

The '70s were an important landmark in the development of the company. In 1977, for example, a new, large-capacity, self-supporting warehouse was built. At a commercial level, in 1972, a showroom and offices were opened in Madrid. During this decade, OFITA developed greatly as a company; it needed to grow and get more customers.

  Major technological transformations

The '80s marked the beginning of a series of transformations and investments that placed the Company among the leading firms in this sector.

It was the first company in the Spanish office furniture sector to install a numerical control folding and punching machine. The following year, the second robotised installation with computer-aided design was installed.

The second noteworthy technological milestone occurred in 1987, when the Company installed the first powder paint line in the sector. That same year, natural gas energy systems were installed in the factory and the plant was expanded.

Some years later the factory and central offices were expanded once more.

In 1990, OFITA was the first company in this sector to use robotics in its welding processes. In 1992, a new spot welding robot was installed and in 1997, OFITA installed, for the first time in this sector, a self-cleaning powder paint cabin.

In the '80s, the Company focused all its resources and efforts on quality and design. In 1988, a number of prestigious designers began to work for OFITA. In 1980, the Quality Department was created with its own laboratories.

Customer focus

The '90s were characterised by a greater emphasis on the company's customer services and internationalisation.

Market orientation represented a radical change for OFITA in its work strategy and in the way it approaches its customers. This change involved the need to determine the requirements of our customers and offer them solutions. Faced with this reality, the Company stopped selling furniture and began to offer services, focusing its efforts on offering advice to prospective buyers. According to this approach, the company strove to personalise its selling techniques and listen to the needs of its customers.

The opening of several different sales delegations in Spain was a determining factor in achieving the Company's objectives.

In 1972, a showroom and sales offices were opened in Madrid and in 1990, these were transferred to new location. The Bilbao, Barcelona and Seville sales offices were opened in 1991. Two years later, the Málaga and Zaragoza sales offices were inaugurated.

In 1999, the Valenica-based firm Panel Sistem reached an agreement with OFITA to join the network of OFITA dealers.

In 2001, OFITA opened a sales office in La Coruña.

In 2001, the company Margarit, S.L. joined OFITA's organisation as its dealer in Gerona.
