Ofita participated in the international conference Basque Living held in October at the Kursaal in San Sebastián. This event gathered leading brands in the fields of Habitat, Office and Contract. In total, 20 manufacturers associated with the Habic Cluster will exhibit their products.

This first edition of Basque Living hopes to become an opportunity so that over 170 architects, advisors distributors and specialised press from France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, the Basque Country and Navarre can discover novelties, create links and encourage synergies.
Basque Living has three different areas that all attendees can visit. The first is the exhibition area, where Ofita showcases its products. The second is the ‘Work area’, an area destined to work relations, where attendees can meet the participating companies, and last of all there is the conference area, where a number of internationally renowned architects and designers talk about design and innovation

OFITA organises a Jumble Sale in benefit of Aldeas Infantiles (Children's Villages)

Ofita has held a Christmas Jumble Sale, during the last weekend of November in its showroom in Madrid, in benefit of Aldeas Infantiles. 10% if the money collected will go to this NGO dedicated to helping young children and whose objective is to offer children a family environment, a stable home and solid education in order to offer them a promising and safe future.

OFITA presents at Orgatec the world premiere of a chair designed by ISAO HOSOE

On 27th October, at Ofita's stand at Orgatec, Isao Hosoe presented the world première of the IROHA operative chair.
This new chair by Ofita improves the health of its users, as it leads them to sit with their body correctly positioned and supported.

INTELLIGENT AND AUTOMATIC ERGONOMICS

This is the outstanding feature that makes it unique: thanks to its design, the user does not have to think about how to sit; Iroha manages to seat the user adequately in an unconscious and automatic way.

Iroha applies the knowledge, patented by IHD, of the constant distance between the elbow and lumbar area. It has been proven that this distance is constant regardless of the person's height. In Iroha, the armrests and the lumbar support are joined in a way that when the user adjusts the height of the armrests, the lumbar support is automatically moved to the correct position. That is, it provides automatic ergonomics, helping the user to be better seated in an unconscious way.

Ofita travelled to Orgatec with this chair and with a selection of its latest proposals for the world of offices and contract, specifically with the following products: Sirimiri, Mizar, Atria, Equis, Nexa, Dhara, O.X., electa neo and Gen.

In the construction of the new Development and Logistics Centre, and in its subsequent activity, aspects such as sustainability, with an important reduction of energy and water consumption, have been taken into account

Ofita inaugurates a modern Development and Logistics Centre

Ofita has inaugurated its new modern Development and Logistics Centre, located in the industrial estate Subillabide in Vitoria.

The over 30,000 m2 installations house the product innovation and development equipment (with offices designed and equipped for the new work dynamics: encouraging communication, teamwork, mobility, flexibility…); a new automated installation for the manufacture of chairs and an intelligent logistics centre, from which the group's logistics will be carried out
With this investment, “we have aimed to improve and modernise our infrastructures to attend to clients more efficiently and to continue with our commitment to the development of new products. In coming years, innovation will again be the driving force behind the company. Thus, and despite the current difficult situation, Ofita continues to invest in knowledge and in analysing the trends and new future dynamics, in order to provide them with the most innovative solutions. Far from resisting change, the company is still working -and will continue to do so at this new centre- on the launching of new products”, according to Camilo Agromayor, director of Ofita.

Chairs with anti-static components

Ofita has presented its new chair, "Dhara", using anti-static components which ensure a static-free workstation.

CIDEMCO is certified under the Cidemco Quality Mark - Anti-static Office Furniture. This certification ensures that the chair conducts electricity within the optimum range, and thus allowing static-free use of the workstation.

In 2009, Ofita stole a march on the market with the launch of "Savia", the first chair with this certification and similar anti-static properties.

OFITA takes its latest proposals for the office and public spaces to Dubai

Ofita took part in the trade fair The Office Exhibition 2010, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Ofita presented its latest proposals for office and public spaces such as the Sirimiri bench collection designed by the Milanese studio King & Miranda, the Chess filing system (Ofita Design), the OX operator furniture system and the Dhara office chair, designed by Josep Lluscà.

With an eye on foreign markets as a means of growth, the company also participates in other international fairs such as the Salone Ufficio (Milan), Design Prima (London) and Orgatec (Cologne).

OFITA develops the first Universal Office Furniture system

Ofita, in cooperation with Cidemco-Tecnalia technology centre and the company Icavi Bikain, has developed the first universal office furniture system, that is, for all people including those with some form of functional diversity. So that all people can share the workspace without barriers of any kind.

INNOVATIVE ASPECTS OF THE PROJECT:

Accessibility to the work environment. One of the innovative aspects of the project analysis of the work environment as a whole (not just one item).

No prior restraints with regard to functional diversity. Its application is not limited to a particular type of functional diversity. The range of furniture designed in this project (Xenon Universal) tackles the disabilities associated with the motor function, handling, etc. In addition, the project approach is more ambitious and seeks to tackle other functional differences such as those that are closely related to cognitive (intellectual limitations) or sensory disadvantages (visual and/or audio impairment) for use or handling of the products.

Environmental-furnishing-technological convergence. It is possible to incorporate advanced solutions (computing, telematics, home automation...) in addition to the traditional mechanical solutions.

Collective participation in development of people with disabilities. Groups of people with disabilities have been active in the project, mainly in the phases of collecting user requirements and final evaluation of the new range of furniture.

Ofita obtains FSC forest certification

Ofita has obtained FSCTM certification (Forest Stewardship Council) (SGS-COC-006244) that ensures that upon request / in some of our products / the wood with which the furniture is made comes from rationally managed forests, according to international standards and other controlled sources.

The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an independent, non-governmental, international non-profit organisation with the aim of promoting responsible environmentally-friendly socially beneficial and economically viable forest management in forests around the world.

This new certificate is added to the PEFC/14-38-001 (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), which recently Ofita obtained, certifying that the wood used by Ofita in the manufacture of its products comes from forest areas

Ofita finalist of Delta Awards 2009

The Ofita bench Sirimiri was selected as a finalist in the 33rd edition of the Delta Awards 2009, granted by the Industrial Design Association for the Promotion of Decorative Arts ADI-FAD. Until 30 November, the bench will be on display at the headquarters of the FAD in Barcelona, with the rest of the finalists.

These awards recognise products that stand out for their innovative nature, conceptual renovation demonstrated by their creation, the social response they can achieve and their environmental friendliness, as well as formal criteria and manufacturing quality.

The collection of public use benches, Sirimiri, designed by King & Miranda Design, is made of aluminium and produced in an innovative way which confers great physical and aesthetic lightness at the same time as strength.

Aldeasa

Ofita has carried out comprehensive refurbishing of the corporate headquarters of Aldeasa, the leading Spanish operator of airport retail. This "turnkey" project includes the partitioning of space, with Zonna model double glass screens, installing floors and walls, HVAC and network supply.

In total, 6,000 square meters were fitted out by the Ofita on-site project team, distributed over 6 floors and furnished with Xenon furniture line and Dhara operator chairs, both exclusive Ofita models designed by Josep Lluscà.

Xenon has equipped 350 posts, arranged in groups of 2 and 4 people, as well as meeting rooms. With a style midway between avant-garde and conservative, there are also innovative contributions such as the Integrated Personal File Module or document-holder trays and computer support arms positioned in the functional equipment separator rack panel.

In these offices functionality coexists with comfort and an impressively up-to-date image.

Harmony of the audiovisual project and architectural design and construction of the new headquarters for the Basque Public Television EITB with the new Bilbao has been assured. Ofita has personalised its Xenon furniture line, purpose-designed by Josep Lluscà to meet the technical and functional requirements of this facility, especially in relation to desk wiring and mobility in shared areas.

Operational aspects, ergonomics and the aesthetics of the whole, in which whites and a remarkable formal simplicity set the keynote, are the priority in the choice of furniture to equip more than 600 workstations.

Personalised workstations in UNEDISA

Ofita has equipped the new headquarters of UNEDISA (publisher of El Mundo, Marca and Expansion, amongst the flagships) with a customised solution tailor-made for the functional and ergonomic needs of the client, its corporate culture and the diversity of positions (administration, editing, etc.) and their inherent work dynamics.

In close collaboration with the 3G Office architectural studio and the UNEDISA Department of General Services, Ofita has designed and developed around 1,800 workstations in response to the specific requirements of this company, configured by the Xenon range with Beda range containers, both designed by Lluscà Design. For example, special bench tables of 8 and 6 seats have been designed for editorial jobs, as shown in the photographs.

Capio

In this report we present the offices of Capio Sanidad, a health company that manages hospitals, clinics and old people's homes throughout Spain. Ofita has carried out the installation of partitions and has supplied the furniture to equip 40 work areas, 3 meeting rooms and the reception area of these offices located in María de Molina street in Madrid.

To furnish them, Capio Sanidad has chosen the Xenon programme and the Dhara operative chair, both by Ofita and designed by Josep Lluscà.

Particularly worth mentioning is the horizontal modulation of partitions, personalised for this installation according to the architect's project. Thanks to the flexibility of the Zonna removable partition walls, both horizontal and vertical, it has been possible to compartmentalise the space with non-standard modulation. The module is divided horizontally in three panels. As for the finishes, a glass and wood module has been chosen, according to the location and the privacy needs of each office.

COFM (PHARMACISTS' ASSOCIATION)

Ofita has carried out a complete reform at the main office of the Madrid Pharmacists' Association, on the second floor, in collaboration with the Din Arq Cerco Arquitectos study.

The project started from a demolition phase, which led to the construction of new ceilings, bathrooms, windows and a new technical floor,with their corresponding panellings and the renovation of the air conditioning, electricity and plumbing installations.

A basic action in the project has been the compartmentalisation of offices and meeting rooms, solved with Ofita Zonna Partitions, and the equipping of the senior staff offices, the office area, the laboratory, the office and a large meeting room, areas contained in this 600 m2 floor.

As for the design, we could highlight the reception area, a personalised design by

Din Arq Cerco Arquitectos and produced by Ofita, and the the furniture of the offices and the meeting room, specifically created for this project based on the Xenon and Equis programmes.

Xenon is also the furniture programme chosen for the office area, and as for the chairs, Dhara operative and executive chairs have been installed, and Nexa and Itaida in shared spaces.

Born in Vitoria in 1970, he took a diploma in industrial design from the School of Design in San Sebastian and studied at the Experimental Design School in Madrid. He took part simultaneously in interior design projects.

He worked for several years in various engineering studios and technical offices. He joined Spiral Communication as partner and coordinator of the industrial design department.

In 2003 he founded AGVestudio, developing integrated industrial design projects, always focusing on the world of habitat, work spaces and urban furniture. In this short space of time he has worked with several companies in the sector.

Graduate in Industrial Design from the Eina School in Barcelona, Lluscà has been a lecturer for its Product Design Department and member of its Board of Governors.

He was also vice-president of ADI-FAD, member of the Design Council of the Catalan Parliament and member of the Advisory Board of the BCD Foundation.

He has worked since 1972 with leading international companies and has won a number of prestigious international design awards, including the ADI-FAD Gold Delta, several ADI-FAD Silver Delta and LAUS ADG-FAD awards, the Industrial Design Excellence Award of the IDSA (U.S.A), the iF Product Design from iF Industrie Forum Design in Hanover for excellence in design, the best of the NeoCon Awards in Chicago... and the National Design Award of Spain.

Lievore Altherr Molina was created in 1991 by the merger of its three partners: Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr and Manel Molina.

Since its foundation, the studio has been devoted to product design, consultancy and art management for several companies, always offering personalised solutions. The studio has been awarded numerous national and international prizes, including the National Design Award of Spain in 1999. Lievore Altherr Molina has exhibited work in Barcelona, Cologne, Chicago, Stockholm, Helsinki, Lisbon, London, Louisiana, Madrid, Malmö, Milan, New York, Paris and Tokyo.

King & Miranda

The King & Miranda Design Studio is formed by two very important and prestigious designers who have been working together for more than three decades.

Perry A. King

Perry studied Industrial Design in England and settled in Italy as a consultant for Olivetti, where he worked on a wide range of products, among which are the Valentine typewriter and System 45. He is Professore Incaricato at the Polytechnical Institute of Milan, Fellow of the University of Central England, of the Glasgow School of Art and of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2004 he was granted the title of Visiting Professor of the London University of Arts.

Santiago Miranda

Miranda established himself in Milan in 1971 where he founded - with Perry, King - Miranda Associati in 1976, after having studied at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos in Seville, his hometown. He is Professore Incaricato at the Polytechnical Institute of Milan and forms part of the Scientific Committee of the European Design Institute in Madrid and of the Scientific Committee of the Master in Design course at the University Pablo de Olavide in Seville. In 1989 he was awarded the National Design Award of Spain, and in 1995 the Design Award of Andalusia.

Antoni Arola

Interior and industrial designer, Arola studied at the Eina School of Design in Barcelona. Since 1994 he has run his own studio in Barcelona, Estudi Arola. He received the National Design Award 2003, among other awards including the Silver Delta.

He has developed his work in very different fields: lighting design, perfume bottles, furniture or interior design for brands like Loewe, Custo, Vilagrasa, Santa & Cole, or Metalarte amongst others.
